The resort consists of two villages – Äkäslompolo and Ylläsjärvi – which are located on both sides of the ski slopes in the middle. Of the two villages, Äkäslompolo is livelier and has a wider range of services. There is a well-stocked large supermarket, many restaurants, cafes and bars, a shopping centre and souvenir shops. There is also a pharmacy, a thermal spa with various pools and saunas, a few gyms and sports equipment hire for outdoor activities. Children will be delighted by the long sledging hills, while our four-legged friends will enjoy dog parks and several restaurants that welcome well-behaved pets.
