Villa Santala is a light and spacious country cabin with round log walls and charming timber interior. This beautiful property is located on a peaceful lake shore near Kuusamo and has room for 5+3 guests. The wonderful floor-to-ceiling windows offer spectacular views of the lake and the surrounding nature. Especially the sunsets in this Villa is the must-experience all year around.
Downstairs there is a large living room with comfortable sofas, fireplace and a dining area for 8 people. The separate, well-equipped kitchen has a dishwasher and, in addition to an electric stove, there is also a traditional fireplace oven.
Downstairs you will also find a utility room with a washing machine and drying cabinet, as well as a separate WC, changing area and a modern washroom area with two showers and a sauna with electric stove.
The sauna, washroom area and kitchen has been completely renewed in the years 2024 – 2025.
There are two attractive bedrooms on the upper floor. One bedroom has both a double and a single bed. The other bedroom has a double bed and, if necessary, also a child’s bed. There is a sofa bed and a single bed in additional room in the downstairs. There is access to small balcony from both bedrooms, the best place to experience sunrise in the mornings.
Guests have access to a spacious terrace. This terrace is the best place to see the sunsets and view the lakeside. The garden includes a traditional grill and campfire place. By the lakeshore there is a separate, traditional sauna building, which can be reserved for an additional fee. In summer, make use of the rowing boat or relax on the long sandy beach.
In winter, a private snowmobile trail starts close to the cottage, which eventually connects to the public track. There is really good fishing possibilities around the lakes near Villa.

DISTANCES: Snowmobile trail 100 m, cross-country ski tracks 1 km (for part of the winter season, other times 3 km), Kuusamo (supermarkets, restaurants) 25 km and Ruka 40 km (ski slopes).

We had a traditional Midsummer in Kuusamo enjoying sauna, eating, swimming and spending time together. On Friday the weather was initially quite cool and cloudy, but by the evening the sky was cloudless and weather calm. Thank you for letting us stay in the cabin and perhaps we will return one day to this lovely peaceful place.

The weather was good. A few degrees above zero. Below zero during nights. We have spent Easter in Kuusamo already 20 years. This year there was sadly not enough snow for cross-country skiing. We drove snowmobiles on the frozen lake and ice-fished. We got a few perches and roaches mainly for birds to eat. Thank you for a great cabin.

We spent a week in Kuusamo in lovely Villa Santala. Lakeside sauna was the highlight of this lovely cabin. The weather was good, we spent a lot of time outdoors in beautiful scenery and relaxed amongst great views. We will definitely return to Kuusamo. There is still a lot to be seen and experienced. Thank you to the host for vendace and a lovely meeting.

We spent a peaceful Christmas here with the family. It was nice to have snow when in many places further South they had a “black Christmas”. We spent a lot of time outdoors and Santa Claus visited us on Christmas Eve. The sledges at the cabin were well used by the children and in other ways also we had everything we needed.

It was really nice to get to spend our winter holiday here in this gorgeous cabin. The sauna was super! We grilled sausages on a camp fire and they were great. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the weather was good. Thank you to the host for good advice on routes!

We spent Christmas and New Year in a great cabin amongst peaceful nature. We enjoyed sauna, went to the hole on ice and ate well. We also saw several reindeer! Absolutely relaxing and rewarding Christmas and New Year.

What peace! The cabin has a lovely setting. We did not see any reindeer in the yard. Or Northern Lights. We came all the way from Mikkeli to experience them. But we have rested, enjoyed sauna and spent a lot of time outdoors. Thank you, lovely place! We will definitely return!

We came to Kuusamo for a winter holiday. Our holiday was spent cross-country skiing, enjoying sauna and of course eating well. We also walked the Little Bear Trail. Gorgeous scenery, also from top of Valtavaara. The weather was good 15C-23C. Nice cabin and lovely lakeside sauna.
