Salla is less known than the larger Lapland ski resorts, but holidaymakers of all ages have a great time there. Visitors will find good basic services at the resort, including atmospheric restaurants, cafes, a pub and Sport Shop Salla, which sells sports clothes and souvenirs. More shops and services are available in the centre of Salla, 10 km away. At the Salla spa, you can enjoy the fitness pools and Jacuzzi. Active visitors can rent cross-country skis, skiing equipment, snowshoes and fat bikes. For children, Salla’s fell village has its own activity area with a sledding hill, a SnowTube chute and much more fun.
Salla has many accommodation options for families, couples and groups. The rental cabins in Salla are located close to the centre and you can conveniently reach the services and ski slopes on foot. Lapland cabins are great for families with children. Most have travel cots and high chairs available. You can also ask the cabin owner if there are safety gates on the stairs. If you want to bring a pet, always check the cabin description to see if pets are welcome, or ask the cabin owner about this. Some rental properties do not allow pets.

Salla has 15 varied ski slopes, 160km of cross-country ski tracks and the Snow Park for snowboarders. Try other fast-paced experiences such as snowmobiling, reindeer or husky safaris. In summer, the bright nights of Salla are perfect for enjoying the great outdoors. Try playing disc golf under the midnight sun, or take a hike on Sallatunturi fell, with its well-marked routes suitable for families with children. The nearest airports are located in Kuusamo (110 km) and Rovaniemi (145 km). There is a limited bus connection to Salla from both.
Kemijärvi railway station is located 65 kilometers from Salla. There is a bus connection from the station to Salla and Sallatunturi.
The bus connection from Sallatunturi to Kemijärvi train station operates every day from Monday to Sunday, excluding public holidays. Always check the schedules on Matkahuolto‘s website.
